It's strange, how something can happen, and you therefore associate two things forever, based on that one event.
Take my Crazy Aunt and Lettuce for example.
Yes, Crazy Aunt and Lettuce.
Why, whenever I prepare lettuce, do I think of my Crazy Aunt?
(And it's not because I like her, so lets not go there...)
Once, while living (well, I was living, she was half-heartedly taking up perfectly good air I could have been breathing...) in the same place as her, I was making myself burritos for dinner. Oooh, yummy. I was chopping the lettuce, as you do, but I cut the nasty bitter white stalky bits off my lettuce, because, well, they're nasty and bitter and I just don't find that enjoyable.
Crazy Aunt stumbles out of her cave bedroom, and asks me
"Why are you cutting those bits off?"
"Because," I reply, "They're nasty and bitter and I don't like them." (well, duh!)
"Oh. You're a fussy bitch, aren't you?"
Crazy Aunt then proceeds to return to her hovel for another 5 days.
*My* lettuce, bought with *my* money, for *my* dinner.
It was just so absurd and crazy, even by her standards, that it has remained with me until this day.

We took Caitlyn and Oliver to the Pools last night.
Wasn't really sure what we were expecting. To be perfectly honest, I thought we'd be there 10 minutes before Oliver got the worst of us and we left.
We were pleasantly surprised by both of them.
It being their first time ever in anything more than a bathtub (and I remind you, we have only in the last 6 months gotten Oliver over the point of hysterical screaming when he got put in the bathtub), they took to it really well!
They hung around our necks pretty tightly at first, but after Caitlyn realised she could touch the bottom of the pool (1m deep) and still have her head well above the water, she was walking around on her own and paddling with her hands.
And Oliver really enjoyed being towed around and kicking, then we held him up under his belly and he kicked and paddled.
By the time we left we had him lunging between us quite happily, a distance of about 3/4 to 1m. He was really enjoying it. I'd get tired and want a rest of pulling him around the pool, and he'd be all "more swim!".
They feel so light in the water, then you climb up the stairs out of the pool still holding them and their full 25kg weight suddenly hits.
How did I end up with such huge children?
I need to stop feeding them.

The neighbour is outside and still has his cough. At least he's mowing the lawns now so I can't hear it so much.
We went to see the Dark Knight on Wednesday. Ross won free movie tickets a while ago so we went to use them. Neil babysat. Only we get out to Chartwell (awesome theatres if you haven't been yet, anyone) and he's left one of them on the bench at home! Duh!
Anyway I guess now we'll have to go see another when we're back here to tidy the place up a bit. There's nowhere in Tauranga we can use them.
I liked the movie, it was good, quite long, but it didn't feel it. I liked how they had the balls to actually kill off the characters too, not just be like, oh, we're going to make you think they're dead but actually they'll come back late on and it'll all be OK.

I wish that fucking dog would shut the fuck up.
You know that dog in the cold truck, on that all black car/coke ad?
It's like that, yap yap yap fucking yap yap yap at ANYTHING!
And of course today is rubbish day so there's moer trucks and people on the street than usual.
Also the ppl that moved in next door, the guy has a constant couch and it's driving my batty. I'm tempted to put some freaking cough syrup in their letterbox.

Dammit! Just cough properly and get it over with, stop pissing about with those pussy coughs!

It's 6m long, still in the box.
Not an actual slip n slide, probaby a supermarket one. the kids got it for christmas a few years ago, but we've never used it and I honestly don't think we ever will.
I also have some baby home-safety gear, also free to good home

Farewell party/bbq/whatever here on the 6th Sep (yes we're not moving til the 20th, but busy with the Day-Night Thriller the weekend of the 13th)
Mid-afternoon onwards
I'm rostered on that night but won't be having to go to work til about 11pm so it's all good. Just no drinkies for me unless I can talk Garry into working for me LOL.

I never got sent anything one I sent in the form to say I'd do it.

I'm bored, but the dishwasher needs unloading, so I guess I should do that.
I just want to go to bed, but there's so much else I could be doing.

Oh so I'm doing some of the MoreFM triathlons next year. LMAO. Me, who can't even swim! This is gonna be a hoot! http://www.tri.co.nz. Will probably do Rotorua, and Hamilton, and maybe Maraetai cos I know that course (well the bike leg anyway) and it's pretty cruisy. I may or may not run, depends if I can get shoes that are going to enable running with my munted toes or not.

I'm taking Caitlyn to a proper ear clinic this afternoon. She's still having troubles, and all the GP can do is give us yet more antibiotics and refer us back to to audiology at the hospital and I can't be bothered with faffing around with that. It's only gonna cost $60 to go to this place so well worth it I think.
She says her ears keep going "boom boom boom", she's really not hearing well, and keeps falling over/off things.
Audiology picked up on a "mild to moderate hearing loss" and the tympanometry test was totally flat, yet they just said they'd like to see her in another 6 months. She also failed the test they had done at kindergarten recently.
I broke one of our dining chairs the other day. I was standing on it, and stepped back and it toppled. Must have put all my weight on the one leg, which we thing must have been half off a rug, and it snapped. Now we're gotta go out to Big Save on the weekend and see if we can buy another one.

I've just taken 41 photos. And now Oliver is up so I plan on taking more.
Right now, though, I'm waiting for photobucket to stop being an ass and start uploading. It irritates the hell outta me when I give it 19 photos to upload, and it sits there doing its thing for 10 minutes, then I get the evil 'The document contains no data' message.
Evil, I say. EVIL!
So when the time comes, you will see this cut, and when you do, behind it will be a ton of photos. Now, I'm too lazy to resize them all, that would take forever, so Photobucket is resizing them for me, but they're still pretty big, so this may not be dial-up friendly. So all of you on dial up, click now, then go make a coffee and when you get back it should be done ; )
